The 2018 FRANKY AWARD goes to Daniel Alexander Jones!

Daniel Alexander Jones has made a wildflower body of live artwork over more than 25 years. His critically-acclaimed theatre pieces include Duat, Phoenix Fabrik, Blood:Shock:Boogie, and Bel Canto, the musical, Bright Now Beyond, and a multi-chapter series of solo autobiographical performances, The Book of Daniel. Channeling his alter-ego Jomama Jones, Daniel created Radiate at Soho Rep and across the USA, and most recently, Black Light, which premiered at Joe’s Pub & The Public Theater, before transferring Off-Broadway. Jomama released the albums Lone Star, Radiate, Six Ways Home, and Flowering; her album Anew is forthcoming. Daniel received the prestigious Doris Duke Artist Award in 2015, in recognition of his risk-taking practice. He was an inaugural Creative Capital Artist and Alpert Award recipient. Daniel is an Associate Professor of theatre at Fordham University, and a proud alumnus of New Dramatists and the Playwrights’ Center.

Named in honor of MESTC Executive Director and Prelude founder Dr. Frank Hentschker, the FRANKY Award was created to recognize an artist who has made a long-term, extraordinary impact on contemporary theater and performance in New York City.
